It was stated by the Ukrainian Parliament Human Rights ombudsman Valeria Lutkovska during the expert discussion at the OSCE meeting in Warsaw on September 24.
“The peninsula is ruled by fear, intimidation, physical force and psychological pressure, which forces the Crimean Tatars make a difficult decision to leave their homes and seek a better life on the mainland of Ukraine”, – said Lutkovska.
She also stated, that similar to the situation with the Crimean Tatars is the case of violation of the rights of ethnic Ukrainians in Crimea.
“We have recorded cases of disappearances and killings of community activists, which are not investigated by law enforcement agencies properly. Ukrainian schools are being closed, representatives of many religious communities also suffer constant harassment and the media is pressured, “- emphasized Lutkivska.
As was previously informed, human rights activists regularly claim human rights violations in the Crimea.
